🌿 Tulsi Vivah: A Sacred Union of Devotion & Divinity

Tulsi Vivah is a significant Hindu festival celebrating the ceremonial marriage of Goddess Tulsi (Holy Basil) to Lord Vishnu or His divine avatar, Shri Krishna. This auspicious event marks the beginning of the Hindu wedding season and symbolizes the victory of purity, devotion, and dharma.

Observed on the Dwadashi (12th day) of the bright fortnight of Kartik month, Tulsi Vivah signifies the end of Chaturmas — the four months when Lord Vishnu rests in yogic slumber and marriages are paused as per tradition. With this ceremony, Lord Vishnu awakens, and auspicious occasions restart.

✨ Spiritual Significance of Tulsi Vivah

Celebrates the divine marriage of Tulsi (Lakshmi) and Vishnu

Marks the end of spiritual austerity & beginning of festivities

Symbolizes the union of devotion (Bhakti) & divinity (God)

Performing Tulsi Vivah is believed to bring:

Prosperity & peace at home

Ideal life partner blessings

Wealth, harmony & healthy family life

Liberation from past sins & path to Moksha

Tulsi Mata is considered the incarnation of Goddess Lakshmi, while the Shaligram represents Lord Vishnu. Offering Tulsi leaves in worship is believed to please Shri Hari and bring divine grace.

📖 Legend Behind Tulsi Vivah: Vrinda & Lord Vishnu

The divine story traces back to Vrinda, the devoted wife of the mighty demon king Jalandhar.

Vrinda’s chastity made Jalandhar invincible — even gods feared him.

To restore balance, Lord Vishnu assumed Jalandhar's form and broke Vrinda’s purity vow.

Jalandhar was defeated by Lord Shiva.

Heartbroken, Vrinda cursed Vishnu to turn into stone — hence the Shaligram form.

She sacrificed herself, and from her ashes emerged the sacred Tulsi plant.

Lord Vishnu blessed her eternal devotion by declaring:

Tulsi would be worshipped forever

No offering is accepted by Vishnu without Tulsi leaf

He Himself marries Tulsi annually — Tulsi Vivah

This divine bond signifies eternal love, dharma, and devotion.
