🌼 Ram Ekadashi : Fasting, Rituals, Story & Spiritual Significance

ree

Ram Ekadashi, also known as Rama Ekadashi, is a sacred fasting day observed by devotees of Lord Vishnu. Falling during Krishna Paksha (waning moon) in the month of Kartik, it holds special spiritual value and is believed to cleanse sins and bring prosperity.

✨ What is Ram Ekadashi?

Ram Ekadashi is one of the 24 annual Ekadashis in the Hindu calendar. It is dedicated to Lord Vishnu and Goddess Lakshmi, and is especially revered in Vaishnava traditions.

The word “Ekadashi” means “eleventh,” referring to the 11th lunar day of each fortnight. Ram Ekadashi is observed during the dark half of Kartik, just before Diwali.

📖 The Story (Katha) of Ram Ekadashi

The legend comes from the Brahma Vaivarta Purana. According to the story, King Muchukunda had a daughter named Chandrabhaga, who was married to Prince Shobhana.

On Ram Ekadashi, Shobhana tried to fast but died due to physical weakness. Because of his attempt and sincerity, he gained a divine kingdom in the next life. Later, with the help of a wise sage and his wife Chandrabhaga, he was freed from the spiritual limbo.

Moral: Even attempting this vrat with sincerity brings divine blessings. The fast has the power to liberate souls.
