Day 1 – Pratipada Shraddha

  • Ancestors who passed away on Pratipada Tithi.

  • Offer rice, sesame, and milk.

Day 2 – Dwitiya Shraddha

  • For ancestors who died on Dwitiya Tithi.

  • Offering of barley, rice, and fruits is recommended.

Day 3 – Tritiya Shraddha

  • Dedicated to ancestors who left the world on Tritiya Tithi.

  • Also known as Bhadra Tritiya Shraddha.

Day 4 – Chaturthi Shraddha

  • For ancestors who passed away on Chaturthi Tithi.

  • Considered important for peace of restless souls.

Day 5 – Panchami Shraddha

  • Ancestors who departed on Panchami Tithi.

  • Known to remove Pitru Dosha.

Day 6 – Shashthi Shraddha

  • Performed for ancestors who died on Shashthi Tithi.

Day 7 – Saptami Shraddha

  • For those who passed away on Saptami Tithi.

Day 8 – Ashtami Shraddha

  • Ancestors who died on Ashtami Tithi.

  • A spiritually strong day, believed to bring relief to wandering souls.

Day 9 – Navami Shraddha (Mahanavami)

  • Performed for female ancestors, especially mothers.

  • Families perform special offerings of kheer and white foods.

Day 10 – Dashami Shraddha

  • For those who passed on Dashami Tithi.

Day 11 – Ekadashi Shraddha

  • Special Shraddha for those who died on Ekadashi Tithi.

  • Ekadashi is spiritually powerful for uplifting souls.

Day 12 – Dwadashi Shraddha

  • For ancestors who died on Dwadashi Tithi.

Day 13 – Trayodashi Shraddha

  • For ancestors who died on Trayodashi Tithi.

  • Also dedicated to those who died young or unmarried.

Day 14 – Chaturdashi Shraddha (Ghata Chaturdashi)

  • Performed for ancestors who died due to accidents, sudden death, or violence.

Day 15 – Sarva Pitru Amavasya (Mahalaya Amavasya)

  • The most important day of Pitru Paksha.

  • Collective Shraddha is performed for all ancestors.

  • If someone cannot perform Shraddha on individual days, they can do it on this day for all forefathers.

Guidelines for Pitru Paksha Shraddha

  • Perform Shraddha rituals with purity and devotion.

  • Prepare satvik food (without onion, garlic, or meat).

  • Offer food to Brahmins, cows, crows, and needy people.

  • Chant Pitru mantras for blessings.
