The Strength of Forgiveness
Day 10 Theme
“Forgiveness is not weakness — it is divine strength.”
The tenth day of Purushottam Maas teaches that anger and revenge burn the heart, while forgiveness brings peace, purity, and spiritual growth. A devotee who learns to forgive becomes closer to Bhagwan.
The Katha of the Two Brothers
Long ago, two brothers named Haridas and Mohan lived in a peaceful village. After their father’s death, a misunderstanding arose regarding property and wealth.
Mohan, blinded by greed, falsely accused Haridas and took most of the family land for himself. The villagers expected Haridas to fight, argue, and seek revenge.
But Haridas remained calm.
Every day during Purushottam Maas, he prayed to Lord Vishnu and continued doing honest work without hatred in his heart.
People asked him:
“Why don’t you punish your brother for his injustice?”
Haridas replied:
“If I fill my heart with anger, how will devotion stay inside it?”
Years passed.
One year, a terrible illness struck Mohan. His wealth disappeared, and even his friends abandoned him. Weak and ashamed, he finally came to Haridas seeking help.
The villagers thought Haridas would reject him.
Instead, Haridas welcomed Mohan into his home, cared for him, and arranged medicines and food for him.
Mohan broke down in tears.
“After all the pain I caused you, why are you helping me?”
Haridas smiled gently and said:
“Because hatred ends only when someone chooses forgiveness.”
That night, Mohan deeply repented for his actions. The brothers reunited with love and peace.
Soon afterward, Haridas dreamt of Lord Krishna blessing him and saying:
“One who forgives with a pure heart becomes dear to Me.”
