According to the Padma Purana, once Lord Krishna narrated the importance of Rama Ekadashi to Yudhishthira.

There lived a wealthy king named Muchukunda, who was a great devotee of Lord Vishnu. His daughter, Chandrabhaaga, was married to Shobhana, a prince with weak health. When the day of Rama Ekadashi came, Chandrabhaaga insisted her husband observe the fast, even though he was frail. Shobhana tried but eventually died due to weakness during the vrat.

Because of his devotion, Shobhana was blessed with a heavenly kingdom in the Mandarachal mountains, but it was temporary. When sage Kaundinya visited him, Shobhana sought guidance on how to make his kingdom permanent. The sage advised that by observing Rama Ekadashi vrat with devotion, all his desires would be fulfilled. Thus, Shobhana’s soul was liberated, and he attained eternal blessings.

This story signifies that observing Rama Ekadashi with faith and devotion grants both worldly happiness and spiritual liberation.
