The Power of Faith During Difficult Times
Day 12 Theme
“When the world gives up, faith keeps the soul alive.”
The twelfth day of Purushottam Maas teaches that true devotion is tested not during comfort, but during hardships. A devotee who keeps faith in Bhagwan during difficult times receives inner strength, protection, and divine guidance.
The Katha of the Boatman
Long ago, near the banks of a sacred river, lived a poor boatman named Keshav. Every day he carried travelers across the river to earn a small living.
Though poor, Keshav was deeply devoted to Lord Krishna. Before beginning work each morning during Purushottam Maas, he would fold his hands toward the river and chant Bhagwan’s name.
One year, terrible storms struck the region. Heavy rains flooded the river, and people became too afraid to travel by boat. Days passed without work, and Keshav’s family began starving.
His neighbors mocked him.
“You worship every day, yet Bhagwan has left you hungry.”
But Keshav calmly replied:
“Bhagwan tests faith before giving blessings.”
One evening during a fierce storm, a frightened group of villagers needed help crossing the dangerous river urgently. No boatman agreed to take the risk.
Keshav stepped forward.
Before entering the river, he prayed sincerely:
“Hey Prabhu, guide my boat as You guide my life.”
The storm grew stronger. Huge waves struck the boat from every side. The villagers panicked, but Keshav continued chanting the holy name of Lord Vishnu with complete faith.
Miraculously, the boat safely reached the other side.
The villagers were amazed.
One elderly traveler said:
“Today we did not survive because of the boat. We survived because of your faith.”
Soon, news of Keshav’s courage and devotion spread across nearby villages. People began trusting him greatly, and his life slowly transformed with prosperity and respect.
But Keshav always remembered:
Faith is the light that protects us in life’s darkest storms.
