The twentieth day of Purushottam Maas teaches that true bhakti comes from the heart. Wealth, status, and grand offerings may impress people, but Bhagwan is moved by sincerity, love, and faith.

A simple offering made with devotion is more valuable than a costly gift offered with pride.

The Katha of the Poor Flower Seller

Long ago, in a sacred town, lived a poor flower seller named Tulsi Das. Every morning he collected flowers from nearby fields and sold them in the market to support his family.

Though he earned very little, he was a devoted worshipper of Lord Krishna.

During Purushottam Maas, wealthy devotees visited the temple with baskets of fruits, gold ornaments, silk garments, and expensive offerings.

Tulsi Das often felt sad.

“I wish I had wealth so I could offer something grand to Bhagwan.”

One day, after selling flowers, only a single fresh lotus remained. It was the finest flower he had collected that day and could have been sold for a good price.

After a moment of thought, he decided:

“This flower belongs to Bhagwan.”

He carried it to the temple and offered it with folded hands and tears of devotion.

Nearby, a wealthy merchant noticed him and laughed.

“Do you think one flower can compare to my offerings?”

Tulsi Das remained silent and continued praying.

That night, the temple priest had a divine dream. In the dream, Lord Vishnu appeared holding a single lotus flower.

The priest asked:

“Prabhu, among the many offerings today, why are You holding only this flower?”

Bhagwan replied:

“Because it was offered with complete love and sacrifice. I value devotion more than wealth.”

The next morning, the priest shared the dream with the community.

The merchant realized his mistake and humbly sought forgiveness.

Everyone learned a powerful lesson:

Bhagwan accepts the devotion behind the gift, not the price of the gift.
