Day 24 Theme

“The tree laden with fruits bends low; true greatness is always humble.”

The twenty-fourth day of Purushottam Maas teaches that humility is one of the most beautiful qualities a devotee can possess. Knowledge, wealth, power, and success are valuable only when accompanied by humility. Pride distances a person from Bhagwan, while humility brings divine grace closer.

The Katha of the Learned Scholar

Long ago, there lived a renowned scholar named Shastri Ji. He had mastered many scriptures and was respected throughout the kingdom. People traveled from distant villages to hear his teachings.

Over time, however, his knowledge gave rise to pride.

He began believing that no one could match his wisdom.

One day during Purushottam Maas, Shastri Ji visited a small temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu. There he saw an old gardener offering flowers with great devotion.

The gardener was uneducated and could not recite complex scriptures. Yet he worshipped Bhagwan with pure love.

Seeing this, the scholar thought:

“What can such a simple man know about spirituality?”

That night, Shastri Ji had a remarkable dream.

In the dream, he saw a magnificent divine assembly. Saints, devotees, and sages stood before Bhagwan. To his surprise, the humble gardener was seated near the divine throne, while Shastri Ji stood far away.

Confused, he asked:

“Prabhu, I have studied sacred texts all my life. Why am I standing so far from You?”

Bhagwan replied:

“Knowledge is precious, but humility makes knowledge meaningful. The gardener's heart is filled with devotion, while your heart is filled with pride.”

When Shastri Ji awoke, tears filled his eyes.

The next morning, he went to the gardener and respectfully bowed before him.

“You have taught me a lesson greater than any scripture,” he said.

From that day onward, Shastri Ji continued teaching, but with humility and compassion.

People noticed that his wisdom became even more powerful because it was now accompanied by kindness.

And everyone learned:

True greatness is measured not by how high we stand, but by how humbly we serve.
