Purushottam Maas – Day 25 Katha

The Glory of Gratitude (Kritagyata)

Day 25 Theme

“A grateful heart is a magnet for divine blessings.”

The twenty-fifth day of Purushottam Maas teaches the importance of gratitude. Many people focus on what they do not have, forgetting the countless blessings already present in their lives. Gratitude transforms ordinary moments into spiritual experiences and fills the heart with peace.

The Katha of the Farmer and the Rain

Long ago, in a small village, lived a farmer named Girdhar. He was a sincere devotee of Lord Krishna and worked hard in his fields every day.

One year, the monsoon arrived late. The fields became dry, crops began to wither, and many farmers worried about their future.

Some villagers constantly complained:

“Why has Bhagwan abandoned us?”

But Girdhar continued praying.

Every morning during Purushottam Maas, he folded his hands and said:

“Prabhu, thank You for everything You have already given me—my family, my health, my faith, and the opportunity to work.”

His neighbors were surprised.

“How can you be grateful when the crops are failing?”

Girdhar replied:

“If I forget gratitude during difficulties, was my gratitude ever genuine?”

Days passed.

Finally, gentle rains arrived. The fields slowly recovered, and the harvest became better than expected.

The villagers celebrated.

One night, Girdhar dreamt of Lord Vishnu, who said:

“A grateful heart sees My blessings even before they arrive. Such faith attracts My grace.”

From then on, the villagers learned to appreciate not only success but also the lessons hidden within challenges.

And everyone understood:

Gratitude does not depend on circumstances; it is a way of seeing life.
